Oregon Common Credentialing Information
Scheduled to go "Live" on January 1 2016, Oregon will be one of the first states to require the use of a Common Credentialing Database for all entities who credential healthcare providers.
The Common Credentialing Advisory Group began work late last year to develop rules and find a vendor to create and maintain the database. This group includes representatives from the Oregon Health Authority, Insurance Plans, Hospitals, Medical Boards, the OMA and Practice Administration.
In early 2014 a Request for Proposal was sent to several potential vendors asking for interested parties to comment; 12 different companies responded. Based on these responses, in June 2014 companies capable of providing this service to our state were sent a Request for Proposal. The CCAG hopes to have a potential vendor in place in the fall of 2014. While there have been discussions surrounding fees for this service, nothing has been finalized until a vendor is selected and true costs are known.
July 1 2014, the Oregon Health Authority published the finalized rules that will govern the use of the Common Credentialing Database.
